California Governor Gavin Newsom announced a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for children attending in-person school on Friday.

The mandate will require all students to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to attend in-person school, public or private.

The mandate will go in effect following full FDA approval. Students grade 7-12 are expected to be vaccinated by July 2022.

There will be no testing option.
