Muslim Woman Who Requested To Use Campaign Funds For Health Insurance Defeated In Georgia Election
Nabilah Islam was defeated in the Democratic primary election for Georgia’s 7th Congressional District on June 9, 2020.
Islam, a muslim woman and daughter of Bangladeshi immigrants, made headlines during her campaign for Congress when she requested that the Federal Election Commission (FEC) allow her to use campaign funds to purchase health insurance.
Islam was endorsed by Occupy Democrats.
