Bangladeshi Immigrant Defeated in Georgia Election

Rashid Malik was defeated in the Democratic primary election for Georgia’s 7th Congressional District.

Malik, a Bangladeshi born muslim, came to the United States in 1979.

In several Facebook posts, Malik calls on muslims to “come forward” and “rebuild OUR America” and asks his fellow muslims, “What are we afraid of?” In one of his posts, Malik wrote:

We are Muslim Americans! We perpetually rebuild our America. Work on the future, work on our children! Muslim Americans! What are we afraid of? This is OUR America and we rebuild our America Again! Participate and Vote! Dr. Rashid Malik, US Congress, District 7, GA 2020!

In another Facebook post, Malik wrote:

Muslim Americans! What are we afraid of? Come Forward! REBUILD OUR AMERICA AGAIN!
Dr. Rashid Malik, US Congress, Dist. 7, GA 2020

Malik is a Hillary Clinton supporter.

According to Malik’s website, his top priorities are Medicare for All, Minimum Wage, Green New Deal, Corporate Tax Reform, Prison System Reform, Tuition Free College, Gun Safety, Jobs, Women’s Rights.

On Malik’s website, it states:

We should have common-sense gun laws in place. We need universal background check, genetic test, psychological test and training for anyone who wants to keep guns with a permit. But no Guns for Mass Murdering should be allowed in the hands of common citizens. 

Malik was defeated on June 9, 2020.
