Pakistani Immigrant Elected In Wisconsin

Muslim Pakistani immigrant, Syed Mustajab Abbas was recently elected as the Vice President of the City of Madison Common Council. Abbas was first elected as a member of the Madison Common Council in June 2019.

Abbas took to Facebook to announce his win:

Tonight, I am honored and humbled to be elected as the Vice President of the City of Madison Common Council. Thank you to the alders who gave me their support, and to my constituents who motivate me every day to do more for our community. I will work hard to bring the Common Council together in policy making decisions, to listen to each other more, and to try to understand each other regardless of our differences, for the betterment of the city.

Abbas is one of many muslims running for office in 2020.
