Zulfat Suara made history earlier this month when she became the first muslim and first Nigerian immigrant elected to the Nashville Metro Council.
Suara came to the United States in the 1990’s and settled in Nashville in 1998.
Suara is chair of the American Muslim Advisory Council (AMAC)
Suara has been a speaker at the Nashville Women’s March each year since 2017.
Suara won the general runoff election on September 12, 2019, after advancing from the general election on August 1, 2019.
On September 20th, Suara was sworn into office on the quran.

Anybody who works for groups with names like American Muslim Advisory Council shouldn’t be allowed to run. They only care about ‘islamic’ issues, they don’t care about anything else. They use democracy and our own laws to insinuate themselves into the political system and then try to change the laws to favor their own beliefs.
What aggravates me is that any christian politician who brings up their faith become the targets of the left who have now painted ‘evangelical’ christians as some kind of evil insidious group of people (I’ve heard Antifa rags accusing christian politicians of want to execute gays/trans people on video) and have no problem when muslim politicians make blatantly open statements that they follow the will of ‘al ah’, which means they don’t care about secular laws. Christians don’t say they want to use ancient hebrew laws (yeah, like do not kill, steal) while muslims LITERALLY follow ancient religious laws in their judicial systems and routinely and constantly say that democracy & freedom of speech is evil and homosexuality is a capital offense. NOT A PEEP from the hypocritical left. Considering the zealotry of the followers of islam in the enforcement of their beliefs, including against non-muslims, the ignorance and willful ignorance/blindness of the left borders on a real mental disorder.
