Muslim Immigrant Elected to Sugar Land City Council in Texas

Naushad Kermally has defeated Nabila Mansoor in the runoff election for Sugar Land City Council District 2.

Kermally received 1,811 / 57.26% votes, while Mansoor received 1,352 / 42.74% votes.

Both Kermally and Mansoor are muslim immigrants. Kermally was born in Kampala, Uganda and his parents were born in India. Mansoor was born in Canada and her parents were born in Pakistan.

Kermally will be sworn into office on June 18th.
