Muslim Members of Congress Host Iftar Dinner at the Capitol

On Monday evening, the three muslim members of Congress ― Reps. André Carson (D-Ind.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) ― hosted the first ever iftar dinner at the U.S. Capitol to recognize Ramadan. The event was co-hosted by Muslim Advocates.

Iftar is the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast at sunset.

According to reports, politicans in attendance were, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), and Reps. Judy Chu (D-Calif.) and Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) along with several others were also in attendance.
