Man Arrested After Bringing Gas Cans Into St. Patrick's Cathedral

According to NBC New York, a man has been arrested after bringing gas cans into St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York.

According to reports:

 

A New Jersey man was taken into custody after entering St. Patrick’s Cathedral with at least two gasoline canisters, police and law enforcement sources said.

Police responded to a report of an emotionally disturbed man at the cathedral in Midtown around 8 p.m., the NYPD said.

The 37-year-old man from New Jersey was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

The man walked into the cathedral with two gas canisters, but was stopped by security at the entrance before anything happened, a senior police official said.

No one was injured, and nothing was damaged, police said.

The Midtown North Precinct tweeted that there was a “heavy police presence” around the cathedral as police investigated the incident.
