While newly elected Congresswoman, Rashida Tlaib, was being sworn into Congress today, many of Tlaib’s supporters wore Palestinian thobes to show support for Tlaib. 100’s of photos were posted to twitter using the hashtag #tweetyourthobe.
Rashida Tlaib, along with Ilhan Omar, are the first muslim women elected to Congress.
While being sworn into office, Tlaib wore a Palestinian thobe and Omar wore a hijab.

@RashidaTlaib is wearing her #Palestinian #thobe to her #swearingin today. The art of #tatreez is a cornerstone of our culture & a tool for maintaining our heritage in the diaspora. Thank you, Rashida. In solidarity, here's my thobe from 2018 @AAIUSA #GibranGala. #TweetYourThobe pic.twitter.com/OUEFXz2Ull

Good Morning and Congratulations @RashidaTlaib ❤️
This thobe, over 100 years old and from Beer ElSabe3, was a wedding gift from my mother-in-law. Yalla, #TweetYourThobe pic.twitter.com/bU6e4pKlZo— Lena Khalaf Tuffaha (@LKTuffaha) January 3, 2019
Not a thobe but still some amazing Palestinian tatreez. Given me in Gaza, 1995. #TweetYourThobe pic.twitter.com/srttuvkqzm
