Today new members of Congress were sworn into office. Rashida Tlaib, along with Ilhan Omar, is the first muslim woman elected to Congress.
Many muslims all over the world celebrated Tlaib and Omar’s victories and several muslims showed up to the swearing-in ceremony to support the newly elected Congresswomen. Linda Sarsour was among those who attended the swearing-in ceremony. Sarsour’s attended in support of her best friend and mentor, Rashida Tlaib.
Sarsour and Tlaib both dressed in Palestinian thobes for the ceremony.
