Muslims running in California General Election (UPDATED WITH RESULTS)

After Donald Trump won the 2016 Presidential Election, muslims all over the U.S. decided to run for office. During the Primary Elections there were about 100 muslim candidates throughout the U.S. At this time, I have researched about 80 of those candidates. More than 30 out of the 80 candidates have advanced to the General Elections.

During the Primary Elections there were at least 12 muslim candidates running in California. 7 out of the 12 advanced to the General Election.

List below:

(D) Ammar Campa-Najjar is a candidate for California’s 50th Congressional District (*Ammar claims he is not muslim but his grandfather was a muslim terrorist.) – Update: Najjar was defeated in the General Election. 

(R) Omar Qudrat is a candidate for California’s 52nd Congressional District – Update: Qudrat was defeated in the General Election. 

(R) Mohammad-Ali Mazarei is a candidate for the California State Assembly to represent District 61 Update: Mazarei was defeated in the General Election.

(D) Ahmad Zahra is a candidate for Fullerton City Council District 5 – Update: Zahra won the General Election.

(D) Fauzia Siddiqui Rizvi is a candidate for Corona City Council District 4 – Update: Rizvi was defeated in the General Election. 

(D) Aisha Wahab is a candidate for Hayward City Council – Update: Wahab won the General Election. 

(D) Tazheen Nizam is a candidate for Vista City Council District 4 – Update: Nizam was defeated in the General Election.
