Abdul El-Sayed was a Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Michigan. Tonight, El-Sayed lost the Democratic primary election.
If El-Sayed would have won, he would have been the first muslim Governor in the United States.
Gretchen Whitmer and Bill Schuette will face off to become the next Governor of Michigan. The general election is Nov. 6 2018.
