Muslim woman who interrupted President Trump’s speech is running for Congress

Rashida Tlaib is a muslim woman who is running for congress in Michigan’s 13th District. Tlaib is the daughter of Palestinian immigrants. In 2008 Tlaib became the first muslim woman to serve in the Michigan Legislature. She served three terms, rising to the Democratic Chair of the House Appropriations Committee.

Tlaib is part of a group called “Moms against Trump.”

In 2016 Tlaib and other members of “Moms against Trump” attended a Trump rally. Tlaib interrupted the rally by shouting at Donald Trump. Tlaib was escorted out of the event.

Tlaib talks a lot about impeaching President Trump.

Michigan’s Democratic primary election is August 7, 2018.

UPDATE: Rashida Tlaib won the Democratic Primary Election. No Republicans ran for this seat, so Rashida will not face anyone in Nov. She will be the first Palestinian muslim Congresswoman.
