Asif Mahmood, a muslim Immigrant from Pakistan, recently dropped out of the race for Lieutenant Governor of California, and is now running to be California’s next Insurance Commissioner.
As I wrote in a previous article, Mahmood has often spoke out against President Trump and his policies. Mahmood calls himself a “triple threat” to President Trump. Mahmood is a longtime Clinton contributor. He and his wife have held fundraisers at his home for Hillary.
On January 18th, Mahmood wrote the following on Facebook:
I have based all my life’s work on a single principal taught to me by my parents: that helping others is our highest calling.
I’ve carried this lesson with me everywhere I go: whether it was as a young man helping people in my village in Pakistan get access to the medical care they needed, working as a doctor to serve underprivileged communities, or my decision to run for office.
This principle is why I’ve decided to run to be California’s next Insurance Commissioner. Stand with me to fight for a better future for every Californian.
On Mahmood’s new site for Insurance Commissioner, it states:
Let’s Get Tough On Hate I have based all my life’s work on a single principle taught to me by my parents: that helping others is our highest calling. As a physician I am proud to say that I have never turned away a patient who doesn’t have insurance. I’m running for California Insurance Commissioner to bring quality health care to every Californian. I’ll take on Pharmaceutical companies who are putting profits before people.
